West Bay completes sale of commercial property; retail center planned

West Bay Club Development Corporation has completed the sale of 7.2 acres of commercial property to The Destin Company, a Clearwater-based development firm. The property is located on U.S. 41 south of Williams Road and directly south of the West Bay Club sales and information center.

According to Frank Weed, president of West Bay Club, The Destin Company plans to develop a retail center on the site. The anchor will be an Albertson's food store with space available for miscellaneous additional retail shops. The Sembler Company will handle leasing and management of the center.

"We feel that this is the most appropriate use for the site to complement the development of West Bay Club," Weed said. "This creates a grocery and retail center that provides our residents with the convenience of shopping without crossing U.S. 41. The center will also be well utilized by other surrounding neighborhoods."

West Bay Club, a new 868-acre private country club community, is located about a half mile west of U.S. 41 on Williams Road. Bordered by Estero Bay, the Estero River and Halfway Creek. West Bay Club includes carriage homes, villas, custom single-family homes, homesites and residential towers priced from the mid-$100s to over $2 million.
